Our step-by-step guide shows your how to create a Bardot-inspired half-up, half-down style, using the Tangle Teezer Blow-styling Round Tool to create the elegant movement and the Tangle Teezer Back-combing Hairbrush for the iconic, glamorous finish.

Step 1: Prep the Hair

Create movement and texture into the hair with the Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling Round Tool. To create movement, place the hairbrush vertically on the section, and rotate the hairbrush as you glide it through the hair to encourage the hair to bevel around the barrel of the hairbrush.

Step 2: The Secret Braid

Begin by placing a small triangle section at the centre of head shape around the crown area, and create a small scalp braid. The scalp braid will act a base to grip and secure the remaining sections in place and ensure the look will hold.

Step 3: Start Back-Combing

Using the Tangle Teezer Back-Combing Hairbrush, back-comb the side panels of the hair to start creating subtle volume. Take vertical sections through the side panels, and back-comb evenly along the section to ensure an evenly balanced shape. Secure the hair by pinning the back-combed side panels into the secret braid. Repeat this process on both sides.

Step 4: Create the Height

Take horizontal sections of hair from the middle panel at the top of the head, and back-comb using the Tangle Teezer Back-Combing Hairbrush. This will create the height necessary for the 60’s influence of the look. Pin these section into place, overlapping the side panels at the back.

Step 5: Add the Finishing Touches

Add hair accessories to complete the hairstyle and give the look an on-trend finish.
