Corporate Social Responsibility

Haircare That Cares

At Tangle Teezer, we’ve always been a brand that cares and to help us put the care in haircare (and beyond), our Corporate Social Responsibility policy is focused on three areas: Our world, our people, and our community.

1. Our world: Planet-friendly practises

We take strokes – wherever we can – towards a more sustainable world and future.

We make sure all our office waste is managed responsibly, working with a third-party waste management company to do so, and thanks to our efforts in 2023, we were awarded their Silver Recycling Award.

All our office consumables and paper products are recycled, ecofriendly, and from sustainable sources. And it’s not just in house we care about, it’s important for us to try to work with equally, environmentally minded suppliers too. Our new office has an EPC B rating and our cleaning suppliers are B-Corp Certified. We’re always looking for ways we can be more environmentally responsible in our head office and where we can, we choose sustainable, organic products.

With our Plant Brush – made from 85% sustainably sourced castor beans – we created an eco-friendly hairbrush with the same great detangling power you know and love, so we can be as kind to the planet as we are to hair.

We’ve made the switch from using recycled plastic packaging to cardboard, sourced from renewable sources, for all our tools. By 2025, we’ll have said goodbye to all our plastic packaging.

And while our brushes are built to last, nothing lasts forever. That’s why we started our hairbrush recycling scheme. Just send us your well-loved Tangle Teezer (or any other plastic brush) and we’ll recycle it for you, for free. We want to have recycled over 10,000 brushes by 2030 – so please keep helping us do so.

2. Our people: People focused

We’re committed to treating our team with the respect and care they deserve.

As our business continues to grow, we want to continually develop our people experience and continue to foster an inspiring workplace.

We work in an environment where our culture is in the foreground of all we do, under the guidance of 3 core values:

We are passionately PROUD to do things differently, so we perform brilliantly – just like our hair tools.

We are AUTHENTIC. We welcome everyone as they are, we bring our true selves to work and show up as who we want to be.

We are CHAMPIONS of one another, our brand and our environment.

We are part of a PAC (Proud, Authentic, Champions) that is committed to helping each other develop. We recognise the importance of providing the right skills to our team achieve their goals, and supporting each other through change and growth.

Our culture helps to make sure that everyone feels that they are treated fairly and respectfully; it allows our team to thrive being their authentic selves, build trust, and support each other through life's tangles.

At Tangle Teezer we know the world is not one size fits all. We take time to review and refresh our benefits and policies continuously to make sure they suit the needs of all people on our team. Through our annual engagement survey, we respond to and act on the feedback given.

We now sell brushes in over 75 countries around the world and have extended our manufacturing into countries outside of the UK to support our customer service and sustainability objectives. Our suppliers are expected to meet operational standards and policies to make sure there is no risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains. The expectations we have for suppliers are detailed in our Supplier manual, given to all our suppliers and vendors, and in our Modern Slavery Act Statement.

3. Our community: Community love

We give back to our community and charity partners to make a positive difference.

We’ve been based in London since the company started and we actively seek opportunities to support local causes by donating surplus brushes to charities in London and the UK. With a growing team in New York, we’ll be looking for opportunities to give back to our local community there too.

Our team is made up of kind and compassionate people who all have charitable causes they care about; we offer everyone two days per year, fully paid, to volunteer for a cause of their choice. We also match fundraising wherever we can. In 2024, we launched a four-year partnership with The Prince’s Trust and their Change A Girls Life campaign. Our commitment to The Prince’s Trust includes an annual donation of £25,000 as well as donations from UK sales. We are also proud to have established the Tangle Trust, our internal group of fundraisers and event organisers who proactively support the Prince’s Trust through fundraising activities and volunteering opportunities.

As our Corporate Social Responsibility policy evolves over time, we will update it at least once a year to make sure it reflects the care we want to give to our world, our team, and our community.  This version was updated September 2024.
