Detangling breed & brush guide

Detangler brushes work by detangling your dog’s coat, quickly and gently. The two-tiered teeth technology work together to remove dirt, knots and loose hair quickly and pain-free. The ergonomic design reduces wrist strain and the unique hollow shape makes this brush super easy to use, as well as to clean and store.

Cockapoos, Poodles, Cavapoos and other curly or longer haired breeds need detangling every day. This may sound like a lot but this type of coat is prone to knotting or matting.
Something as simple as a collar, harness or even pet jumper can make your dog extremely matted and can cause your dog discomfort. If your dog’s fur gets too matted, you may have to have a groomer clip your pooch’s fur short.

There’s a wide range of different brushes that groomers use, however our range of detangling brushes are super gentle, making the grooming experience pleasant for you and your pooch.

There are ways to detangle a dog without a brush, but they are a lot more difficult than actually just using a brush. When you use a brush every day or week, this helps to maintain a healthy and clean coat for your dog.

There are shampoos to help with the grooming process, however we recommend using a brush alongside the bath process. The cleaner the coat, the smoother the hair, the easier it is to brush.

Our brushes are safe and compatible with almost every breed! The only time you should not brush your dog is if they have brush burn, which is caused by brushing your dog with too much pressure and causing a burn or rash.
You should also not press or brush too hard onto your dog’s skin if they have any skin problems or mats as this could cause them more pain and create more tangles. If this happens, you should seek help from your dog groomer.

For wiry and fine haired dogs such as the following we suggest the detangling brush; Shih Tzu, Poodle, Maltese, Bichon Frise, Labradoodle, Schnauzer, Cocker Spaniel, Yorkshire Terrier, West Highland Terrier

De-shedding breed & brush guide

De-shedding brushes work by removing loose fur in your dog’s coat, quickly and gently. The innovative two-tiered teeth remove dirt and loose hairs, pain-free. Similarly to the detangling brush, the ergonomic design makes it easy and comfortable to use, clean and store.

Most dogs need de-shedding at least once or twice a week. Each session will also help your dog regulate their body heat far easier. You may need to use your Pet Teezer De-Shedding Brush more during heavy shedding seasons.

There’s a wide range of different brushes that groomers use, however our range of de-shedding brushes are super gentle, making the grooming experience pleasant for you and your pooch.

De-Shedding

If your dog sheds hair around the home and on your clothes, the Pet Teezer De-shedding & Dog Grooming Brush would benefit your pet. These have slightly stiffer teeth to get confidently down to the undercoat.

Puppy breed & brush guide

Start while your puppy is laying or sitting down and speak to them gently while brushing. Reward them with treats and lots of reassurance to help them understand this is a good thing. If you’re struggling to keep your puppy still, you can get things like puppy chew toys or lick mats to help distract them.

Puppies definitely need special brushes for their coat type! The Pet Teezer Puppy Brush has softer teeth than a normal brush, so it won’t put as much pressure on your puppy’s fur or skin.
Perfect for getting them used to the brushing process, the soft-flex teeth easily go through their fur and the two-tiered teeth detangle, brush away skin flakes and encourage oil glands to develop without brush burns.

Puppies don’t really clean themselves in the same way that cats do, that’s why it’s good to groom them at home.

The younger you start brushing your puppy, the better, as it gets them used to it quicker and they will then realise it’s a normal part of their life. If your pooch is older, it may just take a little more time or treats!
